Dear Mr. President
Putin and his war. Since the 24 February 2022 I had the song “Dear Mr. President” in my mind and I had the feeling that I need to change some passages of it to express what I am feeling.
I hope the songwriter and artist P!NK doesn’t mind. I think she understands.
Dear Mr. President
Dear Mr. President
Come take a walk with me
Let’s pretend we’re just two people and
You’re not better than me
I’d like to ask you some questions if we can speak honestly
What do you feel when you see all the Ukraines on the street?
Who do you pray for at night before you go to sleep?
What do you feel when you look in the mirror?
Are you proud?
How do you sleep while the rest of us cry?
How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye?
How do you walk with your head held high?
Can you even look me in the eye
And tell me why?
Dear Mr. President
You are a lonely boy
You are a lonely boy
A really lonely boy
How can you say
We free the Ukrain mind
We’re not dumb, and we’re not blind
Russians trying to stop the war
Soldiers never knew so far
People sitting in your cells
While you pave the road to hell
What kind of leader would take his own brothers rights away?
And what kind of leader might hate his own brothers for their way?
I can’t even imagine what Russians have to say
You’ve forgotten to ask them about your way.
How do you sleep while the rest of us cry?
How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye?
How do you walk with your head held high?
Can you even look me in the eye?
Let me tell you ’bout hard stuff
Millions of maids with their babies on the way
Let me tell you ’bout hard stuff
Missing your house after the bombs took them away
Let me tell you ’bout hard stuff
All the Ukraines in this warzone to stay
Let me tell you ’bout hard stuff
Hard stuff
Hard stuff
You don’t know nothing ’bout hard stuff
Hard stuff
Hard stuff
How do you sleep at night?
How do you walk with your head held high?
Dear Mr. President
You’d never take a walk with me
Would you?
